Airtel has launched two new streaming devices. Airtel XStream Stick and Airtel XStream Box just a few days before the launch of Reliance JioFiber. Airtel XStream Stick is a competitor to the Amazon’s FireTV stick.
It runs on Android 8.0 Oreo. It is the same as the Amazon fireTV stick. Just Plug into the HDMI port of your Normal TV and boom! The smart TV appears! It supports Google Playstore and therefore several apps can be installed in this device.
It has a single subscription plan for accessing content from ZEE5, Hooq, Hoi Choi, Eros Now, HungamaPlay, ShemarooMe, Ultra, Curiosity Stream and it is based on android it must obviously support Google Play Movies and YouTube. It has airtel’s Wynk Music and it will also support popular platforms like Amazon Prime Videos and Netflix.
It has Chromecast built-in so it will be easier to cast the contents from mobile into the big screen. This device comes with an impressive 1.6GHz processor. Like Amazon FireTV stick this Airtel XStream Stick also has a minimalistic remote which is Bluetooth connected to the stick.
The remote for the Airtel XStream stick is minimalistic. It has a dedicated google assistant button, so it makes this remote a voice-enabled remote. It has the usual navigation buttons, Power and volume buttons, back, home and settings and play/pause buttons and a dedicated NETFLIX button. It is a bluetooth remote so it pairs easily with the Airtel XStream stick.
- 4k ready
- Independent control ( with remote)
- Built-in Chromecast
- Single airtel subscription for bunch of apps
- No VR/AR support like in JioFiber
- Minor UI lags are noticed
